RVA loses its only game at "Black Rock"

The Rift Valley Academy rugby varsity team waited six hours at Saturday's Black Rock Tournament and only

got to play one twenty-minute game against Upper Hill in the quartersfinals, which they lost 7-0.

Upper Hill snuck a try in the right corner early in the game for the only points of the game.  Although RVA spent

most of the short game on Upper Hill's half of the field, they could not score a try to even up the score.

Over 300 Buffalo fans - and nearly half of the Black Rock crowd at St. Mary's school - rooted their team on for

the first time of the day at 3 p.m., but since RVA's first game was in the knockout round, it was also their last game.

Two other teams whom they were supposed to play did not show up, and another team that was already there

refused to play them, accepting a forfeit instead. RVA came out the tournament very disappointed at the turn of

events.

"That ws the worst Black Tournament ever," said RVA player Tyler Kinzer. He also hopes that next year's Black

Rock will be better organized.

Varsity player Alban Howorth said, "It was not the losing that made it a very disappointing tournament; it was that

we did not get to play."
